Lately, there’s been an outpouring of support for community-based action sports initiatives. We’ve taken the time to compile a non-comprehensive list of organizations in the skateboard, snowboard, and ski industry seeking to provide the elements to improve the livelihood of children, adults, and communities alike. There are many ways you can help their efforts, such as volunteering your time teaching how to ride, donating funds, and spreading awareness around these foundations and their goals. Check them out below.

Today is #GivingTuesdayNow — a new global day of giving and unity that arose as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. • • As a result of the pandemic, we’ve been forced to cancel or postpone the majority of our youth-focused programming and fundraising initiatives for 2020. • • In the spirit of #GivingTuesdayNow, we kindly ask that you consider making a tax-deductible donation to help ensure we have the resources available — once life gets back to “normal” — to continue the impactful work we deliver to our local NYC community year-round. Link in bio to donate. 🙏 • • Thanks for your continued support and stay safe! 💛 #legendsneverdie

Sixty volunteers worked around the clock to pour around 120 cubic meters of concrete and create a world-class skatepark, Addis Skatepark, in just three weeks. 🙀 They all paid out of their pockets to go somewhere far away and do hard labor all day. Yes, skateboarding is life, and it makes you do crazy stuff. 👻 . . The local skateboarders had the chance to learn about concrete skatepark construction directly from the builders. Being a part of creating their own skatepark, they saw that if you believe in something, you can make something out of nothing! 💪 They immediately took ownership of the park and pride in building an environment that supports healthy activities and breaks down any social and economic barriers. 🙌 . #MondayMotivation Make it a great week friends! Repost from @jongordon11 “Which of these 3 do you need to embrace most today? All of these are important but I want to zero in on COMPARISON for a minute because it may be one of the biggest things holding us back (as individuals and teams). Comparison causes us to focus on someone else’s gifts, talents and purpose versus our own. It’s what happens when we are focused on success versus excellence. Success is often measured by comparison to others. Excellence, on the other hand, is all about being the best we can be and maximizing our gifts, talents and abilities to perform at our highest potential. We live in a world that loves to compare. We are all guilty of doing it. However, I believe that to be our best we must focus more on pursuing excellence. We must focus on being the best we can be and realize that our greatest competition is not someone else but ourselves.”

In spite of returning our facility to the city of Anaheim last year, we have been working on developing an unique educational skateboarding program for our young skaters. 2020 has been an off the charts-challenging year, but we have managed to expanded our programs to 3 different cities in Brazil in partnership with @bobburquist’s institute (@bobburnquistorg). It’s an honor to have @nextupfranca, @nextupsertaozinho, and @nextupribeiraopreto under our umbrella. We wanted to wish you all a happy #GoSkateboardingDay, and don’t forget that today is our 11th anniversary! We wanted to create this graphic—made by @rogeriolemos—for us to remember the difficulties that we had to overcome and our successes during 2020. Happy 11th anniversary, Next Up!! #nextupfoundation #nextupskateboarding
