Chaz Ortiz may have seemingly come out of nowhere, but he’s been skating since the age of 6. At 13, he was sponsored by Zoo York, and his career quickly began to take off. Placing first in the Free Flow contest (skatepark division), he was granted the wild card into the PlayStation Pro prelims. He placed fifth, and soon after the world took notice of his effortless style—you don’t earn a nickname like “Steez,” just because it rhymes.

With top-ten wins all over the country, Ortiz is no stranger to the contest podium. He’s had more wins than most skaters see in a lifetime, and he’s only 23.
