One of the most unique riders in snowboard Superpipe right now is Chase Josey. The Idaho native stands out for his technical tricks and his creativity when it comes to crafting a run. Switch riding is a big focus for Josey, and it’s enabled him to become proficient at spinning all four directions. He’s one of the few riders putting switch backside tricks — considered by many halfpipe riders to be the most difficult of the four rotations — into Superpipe runs, and innovative tricks like the switch double crippler and the switch double Michalchuk have become a frequent part of his repertoire. Josey also holds the distinction of being the first rider to land five consecutive doubles in one run, something that helped him win the Laax Open in 2017. After years of steady improvement, Josey has developed into one of Team USA’s most consistent riders. He had several podium finishes in 2016/17 season and finished second overall in the FIS World Cup rankings.
