The Strong Survive in Skate Park and Vert at Black Diamond

The final skate vert competition on the 2010 Gatorade Free Flow Tour is in the books, which means that just two more park contests stand between now and the Finals. Crazy.

This past weekend, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour hit up New Jersey’s Black Diamond Skatepark for skate park and vert contests. And with more than 100 ams throwing down, each of the contests showcased the skills coming out of the East Coast.

The vert contest saw a few repeat competitors as both Beaver Flemming and Jesse McDonald tried again to earn their way into the Finals. However, Rye Airfield regular Max Jenson took the win with amplitude and consistency as he skated for the full 45 seconds in all of his runs, landing a smooth 540 and giving the judges a good taste of the future of vert skating.

It’s was anyone’s guess who would walk away with the custom-made G trophy in the park comp, with each of the five finalists slaying the course. However, it was Chris Dziema, a past Tour regular who’s back thanks to this year’s new age limit, who took the win with four bangers, a big flip back disaster, a gap to noseblunt, a 270 to boardslide on the down rail and a sick gap to boardslide off the Gatorade feature.
