Phil Soven Wins The Mastercraft Pro Tour

The weather was perfect, the crowds were big, and the float-tilla of boats was in full effect at the last stop of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour today in Knoxville. The Pro Tour title was on the line and Harley Clifford and Phil Soven both brought out everything in their arsenal to try and capture the season championship. The drama escalated throughout the day as both of the young bucks won their Quarter and Semi Final Heats. The Pro Tour title all came down to the Final Heat and it couldn’t have been in better conditions.

Before that went down, it was the Junior Pro Men and Pro Women Finals that kicked off the Main Event. After his victory in Colorado, Daniel Powers tried to repeat his win and made it into the finals, but it was Steel Lafferty’s day. When it was all said and done, Steel Lafferty took the win and Nick Golotifore won the overall MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour title for the Junior Men.

In her second event back after taking some time out to raise her family, Emily Copeland-Durham rode super well this weekend taking home a 2nd place finish. Although Emily landed her back roll to blind, it was Australia’s Amber Wing who slayed the rails and kept her hair dry to grab the top spot on the podium.

Then it was time for the Pro Men Finals. It was all up to Aussie Harley Clifford and American Phil Soven to make dreams come true! If Harley came in first place and Phil fell behind by two spots then the season title would be Clifford’s. But Phil wasn’t having it. Last off the dock, Phil came out firing on all cylinders and put together two stand up passes that took the young Australian phenom out of the equation for the Pro Tour title. Although Harley went on to the win the event, Phil landing in second place gave him enough points to take the Overall Pro Tour title.
