Nick Bruce Takes the Win at Ohio Dreams in the Season’s Last Dirt Contest
With just one final chance to earn a spot in the Free Flow Tour’s BMX Dirt Finals, riders from all over the states were at Ohio Dreams gunning for one of the three automatic qualifying spots. The course had been meticulously prepped by the staff and was ready to be ripped apart by the anxious competitors.
A best of three run format was implemented to determine which three riders would earn their spot in San Francisco. Coming off a runner-up finish a few weeks ago at the Woodward East dirt comp, Nick Bruce bettered his fnish by taking the top spot at Ohio Dreams. The Youngstown native’s run had a 360 double whip, triple whip, and a backflip turndown, all with clean style and solid landings.
“Winning this contest is unbelievable,” Bruce said. “I can’t wait for the finals. It’s going to be so awesome!”
Brandon McCoy snagged the 2nd place spot with a 360 whip, double whip, backflip, and barspin turn down. Brandon Smeltzer rounded out the podium after a run packed with a truckdriver, decade, whip, and tuck no-hander.
