Newcomers Dominate Park Qualifiers

Park qualifiers went down yesterday and dirt specialist Diogo Canina proved he can hang on the park course after claiming the top spot for the night. Dew Tour regulars Andy Buckworth, who led the dirt qualifier, Gary Young, Vince Byron and James Foster all qualified in the top 13 and will move on to the prelims, taking place Friday.

But it’s the slew of new faces that everyone should be watching. Out of the 13 who advanced, six of them are Dew Tour rookies. Dean Cueson and 16-year-old Pat Casey followed Canina in the rankings, rounding out the top three, while fellow newcomers Rob Armour, Dan Foley and Chris Hughes also moved on to today’s park prelims. Also advancing to prelims is Matt Sparks, who made history when he landed the first ever handplant to tailwhip in the qualifiers.
