My Five: BMX Crew 3

My Five is a new Alli feature where we ask the same five questions to five different athletes and compile all the crazy answers for your reading pleasure. For this installment, we talked to BMXers Vince Byron, Kevin Robinson, Gary Young, Luke Parslow and Chad Kagy.

Question 1: What’s your favorite country besides the one you’re from?

Vince Byron: USA since I have a lot of friends there too!

Kevin Robinson: My favorite country besides the USA is by far Thailand. Phuket, Thailand is such an amazing place. The people are so gracious. They are not deterred by what little they have. They make you feel very welcomed.

Gary Young: This is a tough one because I love to travel. I have been to about 30 countries and they are all awesome in their own way. I think I am going to have to say New Zealand though. New Zealand has a ton of good stuff to ride, the country is beautiful and the people are friendly.

Luke Parslow: The best country would be the USA because of life’s options!!

Chad Kagy: New Zealand – so beautiful and mellow.

Question 2: What career decision might you want to do over if given the chance?

Vince Byron: I don’t regret too much in my career, though one thing is that I wish I had started riding a bike earlier in life.

Kevin Robinson: I can fortunately say I have no regrets in my career. Any adversities or setbacks I have faced I used the experience as a learning lesson to grow from. I love my bicycle and I’m very fortunate for the life I have. I remind myself of that everyday.

Gary Young: I am happy with how my career has gone thus far so I guess I wouldn’t want to change anything. I am proud of all of my sponsors, and I don’t think a lot of people can say that.

Luke Parslow: My career decisions are made on day-to-day life. I tend not to over think! But there’s not a thing I would change on this roller coaster on the BMX side but I would take back lighting my legs on fire in 2009, lol.

Chad Kagy: None, they are what they are and make you who you are today. Learn from your mistakes.

Question 3: What’s your vice?

Vince Byron: I’m too indecisive sometimes.

Kevin Robinson: DUNKIN DONUTS COFFEE!!! Medium hot extra extra (That’s D&D language for extra cream, extra sugar)

Gary Young: I have a sweet tooth that is a force to be reckoned with. My friend Hoang and I jokingly call ourselves the diabuddies, because we think that all the sugar we eat now is going to catch up with us one day.

Luke Parslow: My vice is a drink called The Miami Vice!!!

Chad Kagy: I like good chocolate with good wine. Not sure if that counts as two but whatever.

Question 4: Who would you want to be stuck on a deserted island with?

Vince Byron: My girlfriend

Kevin Robinson: Bear Grylls and of course my wife Robin, my 5 year old daughter Shaye, 4 year old son Kevin Jr. and my new son Riley Alan Robinson due in August.

Gary Young: Sarah Young

Luke Parslow: If I were stuck on a deserted island I’d be stuck on it with D. Trump and his daughter! Hahaha.

Chad Kagy: My girl Kelly or Nate Wessel. Nate could make a legit house in a matter of hours and we’d be chillin’ in style with a sign out front saying “Constructed by WesselBuild LLC” even though no one would see it. It’s the small details he’s good at, ha ha.

Question 5: Greenville or Austin?

Vince Byron: Greenville so far, I haven’t been to Austin.

Kevin Robinson: Although Austin is a fun place to visit I got to go with Greenville. Some of my friends there have kids. Once you have kids it’s crucial to be around other kids. No vert ramp in Austin, plus Mirra and I can play 18 holes of golf faster than anyone!!

Gary Young: I would choose Austin over Greenville but neither place is anywhere near as cool as San Diego.

Luke Parslow: Austin. I love that place!

Chad Kagy: I like to road trip to both, G-ville for the ramps and Austin for the street. It’s been a while since I’ve been to either so maybe I need to pack up and make a road trip to both soon. Won’t be living at either of them, nice to visit but home is here in State College.
