Maddie Bowman Takes Back-to-Back Women’s Freeski Superpipe Finals

Kicking off Friday in Breckenridge right, the Women’s Freeski Superpipe Final was graced with absolutely perfect bluebird skies. Acting as the first final of the 2014 Dew Tour Mountain Championships, the ladies in the pipe held nothing back as they put on their show.

Bringing back the top five women from the semifinal and Roz G, the lucky lady who earned her spot via the last chance qualifier (LCQ) on her birthday, each skier was allotted two runs with the best score determining their overall rank.

Annalisa Drew’s second place run

Moment of Truth:

After the first round of runs it was Maddie Bowman leading the pack, but if the semifinal was any indicator of who else could shake things up Annalisa Drew, who qualified first, was surely gearing up for something on her final run. Annalisa started off strong with a big 540, left 900 and alley-oop flat 540, but midway down the pipe she took a spill and in turn locked in the win for Maddie making for two consecutive wins at the Dew Tour Mountain Championships — despite receiving a few knee surgeries in between!

Ayana Onozuka’s third place run

Top Tricks:

Annalisa Drew — A big 540 to start things off, left 900, alley-oop flat 540.

Ayana Onozuka — Back-to-back 540s spinning both ways and back-to-back 720s.

Maddie Bowman’s winning run

Winner’s Top Tricks:

Maddie Bowman — Boosted straight air, right 900, left 540, corked 900 and a 720 to cap it off.

Winner’s Quote:

“I’m so happy to come out and [repeat my win]. [Dew Tour] is always a great first event of the year… this is literally the best pipe! It’s so fun to come out here, see all the girls and ride again.” — Maddie Bowman
