Lil Wayne to Make Special Appearance at Dew Tour

 

LIL WAYNE TO MAKE SPECIAL APPEARANCE AT DEW TOUR TOYOTA CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Burr Ridge, III – October 16, 2012 – The Dew Tour today announced that Lil Wayne will make a special appearance at the Toyota City Championships in San Francisco, Calif. on Saturday, October 20 during Dew Tour’s live NBC broadcast of Skate Street Finals. 

 

A skateboarder himself, Lil Wayne will bring his passion for skating to the street course in San Francisco, while supporting the athletes competing for the Skate Street Dew Cup.  His charismatic and spontaneous personality will augment the excitement of the contest, airing live on NBC at 1:30pm ET / 10:30am PT.  Paul Rodriguez, Ryan Sheckler, Chaz Ortiz and Nyjah Huston are among the top names competing in the event.

Lil Wayne bridges the worlds of skateboarding and hip-hop, creating a unique lifestyle component for the Dew Tour as an artist who has frequented the Billboard Hot 100 charts more than any man in the history of music.  The rapper and Dew Tour founding partner Mountain Dew® announced the DEWeezy Project  earlier this year, bringing together Mountain Dew and Lil Wayne on several projects across music and skateboarding. He is appearing at the Toyota City Championships shortly after opening a community skatepark in the Lower Ninth Ward of his native New Orleans, in an effort to provide a safe and active outlet for local youth.

The Dew Tour Toyota City Championships will be showcased across 11 broadcast hours on NBC and NBC Sports Network and across an all-new digital platform with live streaming, plus exclusive behind the scenes and in-depth content on dewtour.com.  The new broadcast platform will offer coverage from every day of the four-day events and more live Dew Tour coverage on NBC and NBC Sports Network than any previous year. 

 

The Dew Tour Toyota City Championships will be free to attend giving fans access to the best skateboarding, BMX and FMX competitions, as well as the Dew Tour Experience with skate and BMX courses built just for the fans, autograph signings, giveaways and more.

The Dew Tour Toyota City Championships will air live on NBC Sports Network on Friday, October 19 at 7:30pm ET, on Saturday, October 20 on NBC at 1:30pm ET, and on Sunday, October 21 on NBC at 2:00pm ET.  Lil Wayne’s performance will be integrated into the NBC broadcast on October 20.  Additional broadcasts on NBC Sports Network will be October 18 at 11:00pm ET, October 20 at 11:00pm ET, October 21 at 11:00pm ET and October 28 at 11:00pm ET.
