Kelly Clark and Spencer Shaw Lead Snowboard Superpipe Prelims

Vermont locals dominated the both women’s and men’s Snowboard Superpipe Prelims with West Dover’s Kelly Clark coming out on top and Stratton’s Spencer Shaw leading the men’s field.

Clark topped the field after landing tricks that included a huge straight air, backside 540, frontside 720, Haakenflip and a frontside 540. Gretchen Bleiler and Soko Yamaoka finished second and third respectively.

On the men’s side, Shaw distanced himself from the rest with a score of 85.50. His winning run included a frontside inverted 900, backside 900, frontside 1080, switch frontside 720 and frontside 1260. JJ Thomas finished second and Jack Mitrani was third.
 
The top five finishers for women and top nine finishers for men will advance to Saturday’s Finals.
