Dew Tour Storms Brooklyn, N.Y. for Toyota City Championships

Taking skate and BMX to places the Dew Tour has never been before, prepare to storm Brooklyn, N.Y. With great anticipation from the athletes, Dew Tour will be making its first-ever stop in the Big Apple’s hippest borough and will be bringing skate and BMX street and streetstyle with it!

Kicking off the weekend will be an exclusive concert to get the scene buzzing. Don’t worry, even if you aren’t able to make the VIP cut we will be live streaming the performances by J Cole and Bleachers so you don’t miss a beat of the action.

On the competition front, Dew Tour has teamed up with House of Vans to put on our skate and BMX street events inside their facility – assuming the concert doesn’t tear the place down. Look for a fresh course layout inside the familiar landscape of the famed House of Vans on Saturday September, 20.

Come Sunday the crowds will be lining Franklin Street where Dew Tour will erect the newest streetstyle course. Streetstyle has become a staple event of the tour and an absolute favorite for the riders as it takes their most natural terrain and packages it into a contest course full of high-speed and big hits unlike anything else out there.

This is just a sampling of what to expect, there will also be a Local Shop Battle pitting the best AMs in the area against each other as well as vendor booths with product giveaways and athlete signings. For more details on the event soon to come, read the press release below.

Burr Ridge, Ill. – September 10, 2014 – NBC Sports Group continues the 10th Anniversary season of the Dew Tour with the Toyota City Championships in Brooklyn, N.Y. on September 20 – 21. With many of the world’s best athletes in BMX and skateboarding confirmed for the third stop of the 2014 Dew Tour schedule, the Toyota City Championships will make its premiere stop in Brooklyn.

The two-day street-oriented competition will take place at the House of Vans, as riders go head-to-head in the heart of Brooklyn. Competitions will include BMX streetstyle, skateboard streetstyle, BMX street and skateboard street. In addition, Dew Tour organizers worked with the City to close down Franklin Street for a distinctive streetstyle course which will combine real-life street obstacles with reinforced structures to provide competitors with an exciting redesign from previous years. Inside House of Vans, the street course will challenge athletes to demonstrate technical skills as they create unique lines through the features.

“Brooklyn has arguably been the most anticipated stop of the 2014 Dew Tour,” said Chris Stiepock, Vice President and General Manager of the Dew Tour, Alli Sports. “The city’s culture and long-standing affinity for these sports make it the ideal host city for our unique, streetstyle event and we are excited for the city’s reception.”

“There aren’t many places in the world where the culture of skate comes to life through the sights and sounds of a city, but Brooklyn is one of those unique places,” said Greg Lyons, Vice President of Brand Marketing, Mountain Dew. “In action sports, bringing that culture to life through creativity and community is what it’s all about and we couldn’t imagine a more authentic place than Brooklyn to see that happen at Dew Tour.”

In the skateboard street competition, fans can expect to see Paul Rodriguez looking to prove himself once again on the Dew Tour course against Sean Malto and regional favorite Manny Santiago. In the BMX street competition, Portland Dew Cup Champion Dennis Enarson will look to defend his title against top competitors Chad Kerley and Garrett Reynolds. Outside on the Dew Tour’s unique streetstyle course, athletes including Drew Bezanson, Brian Kachinsky and Enarson in BMX and Greg Luztka, 18-year-old Curren Caples and Ryan Decenzo in skateboard will showcase their creativity for the Brooklyn audience.
