Chaz Ortiz Becomes Zoo York’s Newest Pro

Chaz Ortiz has officially hit the big time. Just announced by long-time sponsor Zoo York skateboards, Chaz has been promoted to the professional ranks as of today with the release of his new pro model board, conveniently coinciding with Go Skateboard Day.

After being discovered by legendary Zoo York pro Harold Hunter back in the day, Chaz has gone on to do some pretty amazing things in his 16 years of life. Winning the 2007 Gatorade Free Flow Tour as a 13-year-old grom, Chaz immediately impressed the skate world, taking sixth at the final stop of the Dew Tour that same year. Competing full time on the ’08 Dew Tour, Chaz defied all the odds by dethroning the three-time champion Ryan Sheckler and becoming the youngest Dew Cup winner in the history of the Tour.

We caught up with the true definition of “Flow to Pro,” on Saturday at the Warp stop of the 2010 Gatorade Free Flow Tour to discuss his board… and a few other things. Congrats Chaz!
