Brown, Fisher win Toyota Go Big Award

The two recipients of Toyota’s “Go Big” Award are freeski phenom Bobby Brown and snowboard stalwart Steve Fisher.

After a disappointing start in his hometown, Breckenridge local Steve Fisher ended the Winter Dew Tour with two remarkable runs and consecutive second place finishes at Mount Snow and the Toyota Championship. After the Toyota Championship awards ceremony, Steve said his receiving the “Go Big” award is “definitely a surprise. I don’t know how many people are fans, but I want to thank everyone who voted for me.”

Watch the video clip of Steve’s Superpipe run at Mount Snow, where he strings together back-to-back 7s and 9s, a bolt-stomping 1080, and a very clean switch 9. The announcers aptly commend Steve for the way prolongs his grabs through the entirety of his rotations.

It doesn’t take a ski-nerd to appreciate the rawness of Bobby Brown’s winning Slopestyle run at the Breckenridge stop. Watch how Bobby goes for broke at every hit: 450 on the flat-down, switch misty 10, switch double rodeo 9, and ( a perfect) kangaroo flip, which he finishes with a misty 450 off the last feature. Bobby said he was really happy to be the Toyota “Go Big” winner. “I’m just really stoked fans voted for me,” he said.

An Alli and a Toyota panel selected four qualifying riders and freeskiers from each of the first two Winter Dew Tour stops, Breckenridge (Simont Dumont, Mikkel Bang, Spencer O’Brien, and Bobby Brown) and Mount Snow (Justin Dorey, JF Houle, Steve Fisher, and Jamie Anderson) . Thereafter we turned these riders and skiers over to athletes and fans, who collectively voted Bobby Brown and Steve Fisher for the “Go Big” award. The winners were announced live today, 2/22/09, during the Sunday NBC Show.
