Fifteen-year-old Brett Banasiewicz won the BMX dirt competition to close out the Nike 6.0 BMX Open, becoming the youngest Dew Tour winner in the process.

After a weekend spent battling both wind and rain for the qualifying rounds of dirt, the finals went off without a hitch, and the crowd of faithful fans was treated to a wild competition as 12 of the world’s best descended on the dirt ramps.

Luke Parslow made his return to the podium after failing to make the top three all of last season, and landed back-to-back flip whips and frontflips in his first two runs. Sitting in second place going into his final run, Parslow looked poised to jump into the lead, but had to push the eject button midway through the course, finishing the night in third place overall.

Brandon Dosch’s double tailwhip, opposite 360 lookback and 720 impressed the judges, who gave him two scores in the 90s. With his own cheering section making the drive down from Michigan, Dosch’s final run included a triple tailwhip and a pair of double tailwhips but was also cut short, and Dosch secured second place for the evening.

Banasiewicz was sitting just off the podium going into his final run, and went for it with a barspin drop-in, followed by a no-handed frontflip, truck to 360 barspin and a triple tailwhip on the final hit to earn a 93.13 and jump directly into the lead. Dew Tour heavy hitters TJ Ellis, Dosch and Ryan Nyquist followed him, but Banasiewicz’s combined score of 92.94 could not be overcome, and he claimed the win in his first ever Dew Tour dirt final.
