Women of Dew Tour Go for Gold Today
Last night Shaun White grabbed his second gold medal and Scotty Lago took home the bronze. The American snowboard teams have dominated the Olympics since snowboarding was added and tonight they hope to continue that trend. The women hit the halfpipe today and once again the US team is choked full of Winter Dew Tour athletes. Three ladies on the US team took the top 3 spots in last year’s Winter Dew Tour. Leading the way and eager to be back on the podium after her 4th place finish in Torino is Kelly Clark who was the Dew Cup Champion. Hanna Teter is the defending gold medalist and was second overall that year and Elena Hight finished third and took first in this year’s stop in Snowbasin. Gretchen Bleiler, the silver medalist in Torino, rounds out what is the same team from four years ago. She took first in the Breckenridge event in ’08/’09. Multiple medals in today’s event is not out of the question for the US team but they will also have heavy competition from other women that frequent the Dew Tour. Norway’s Kjersti Buaas bettered her fourth place finish in the Dew Cup race last year to finish finished third over all this year. Australia’s Torah Bright won the final stop in North Star last year and Queralt Castellet from Spain who took this year’s Dew Tour by storm winning the first stop in Breckenridge and place third in Snowbasin. She ended up in fourth over all while only competing in two of the three events. It is going to be another great day on Cypress Mountain and to get you primed check out the ladies of the Winter Dew Tour.
