Wake Games Continues with Team Draft

Orlando, Fla. – As the National Football League prepares for the NFL Draft in New York this weekend, another annual sports draft took place today in Orlando at the Orlando Watersports Complex, where 90 professional and amateur wake athletes were drafted to one of ten teams for the 2009 Air Nautique Wake Games, presented by ROCKSTAR.

At the Wake Games Team Draft, ten preselected team captains each drafted nine other athletes to field their teams with a mix of male and female, pro and amateur wake athletes.

Over the next two days, athletes from each team will not only go for the win in their respective divisions, but also contribute points to a team score based on their final placement in the contest. The team with the highest overall score will take home the 2009 team title and prize money.

Prior to the draft, 14 amateur divisions hit the water today to see who goes home and who qualifies for the draft.

The contest continues tomorrow, Saturday, April 25, where several amateur divisions will finish out the contest and contribute points toward their respective teams. Pro divisions will also compete tomorrow in quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.

The Air Nautique Wake Games presented by ROCKSTAR is a four-day carnival of water-sports action. But not all of the action takes place on the water. On land, fans will experience tons great food and music, athlete autograph signings, chances to win freebies, and shopping at the most cutting-edge stores offering water-sports equipment including boats, wakeboards, wakeskates, sunglasses and the latest in wakeboarding and surfing fashions.

Tickets are available online at www.allisports.com, and at the gate: $10.00 (GA); $5.00 (ages 6-12); Free (ages 5 & under). The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all four days.
