Under the Gun: Colin Mackay

For this installment of Under the Gun, we caught up with BMXer Colin Mackay to have him explain why he’s from Australia but has an American eagle tattoed across his chest.

The background of the tattoo is an American eagle. I just didn’t want something straight off the wall, so this is a little bit different. It’s kind of hard to figure out what it is, but it’s got all the characteristics of an American Eagle.

The story behind it is I’m Australian born and raised, and I came here in 1999. I’ve been here over 10 years now and when it was right around the 10 years.

I was like, ‘This is crazy. I’m supposed to be back home working a real job with my school friends.’ It’s pretty crazy that I’m still here and I’m still enjoying it so I had to get a souvenir.

I couldn’t get an American flag across my chest so I just got the eagle. I wanted it in the attacking style because there have been some wars, and I’ve won some wars as well.  So it’s been a good ride and that was just a little souvenir.
