The award is honored to the athlete that best represents themselves in and out of action sports through progression and innovation of their sport, support of action sports and its growth and overall sportsmanship.

Fresh off being crowned the 2009 Dew Cup champion in BMX Dirt, Nyquist was selected for the PlayStation® Player of the Year by an industry panel for the following reasons:

4) He is the first rider to win two Dew Cups in BMX dirt, the most competitive discipline at the Dew Tour (one win in 2007 and the second in 2009)

“I’m stoked to be chosen for this award and it’s totally unexpected,” said Nyquist. “This has been such an awesome season for me and to be the PlayStation Player of the Year makes it even better,” said Nyqsuit.
