My Five: Skate Crew 5

My Five is an Alli feature where we ask the same five questions to five different athletes and compile all the crazy answers for your reading pleasure. For this installment, we talked to skaters Josh Stafford, Sandro Dias, Anthony Shetler, Shaun White and Chris Troy.

Question 1: What’s your favorite book?

Josh Stafford: I’m not a huge reader, so one of the only books that I’ve ever read that wasn’t for school that I actually enjoyed was probably “Tao of the Wu” by the RZA from Wu-Tang Clan.

Sandro Dias: It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book, I don’t know if I remember. If I read at all, it’s The Skateboard Mag.

Anthony Shetler: I’m ashamed to say, I don’t remember the last book I read.

Shaun White: It’s a tennis book. “Open.” It’s an amazing book if you haven’t read it.

Chris Troy: “Goodnight Moon.” That was the first book I ever read.

Question 2: What’s your pet peeve?

Josh Stafford: Oh my gosh! When you’re at a store or something, and you are waiting at the door, holding the door open for someone and they use the other door. Ugh, I hate it. I get really mad.

Sandro Dias: I don’t like liars

Anthony Shetler: Inconsiderate people

Shaun White: Airports

Chris Troy: I got way too many to name – people not using their blinkers on the freeway, people being cocky and people with no common sense. That’s the biggest one. It’s like, how stupid can you be?

Question 3: What was your most memorable contest? Why?

Josh Stafford: Definitely Tampa Am 2007, because that’s probably the biggest am contest anyone will ever enter, and 2007 was the year that I won. That was just the most fun for me.

Sandro Dias: Latin X Games 2004. After I won the contest I landed the 900 for the first time. For me that was the best.

Anthony Shetler: All of them, but especially the Dew Tour.

Shaun White: The Olympics, obviously. It was like a déjà vu, happening all over again.

Chris Troy: Probably my first Tampa Am I ever went to. I was a freshman in high school, and I did good at a Damn Am contest. I didn’t have a team to go out there with, so my mom flew me out there with her, and I got second place in Best Trick.

Question 4: What’s your all-time favorite movie?

Josh Stafford: Anything by Quentin Tarantino or Robert Rodriguez, but I would probably have to go with “Pulp Fiction.”

Sandro Dias: “Goonies”

Anthony Shetler: Anything with Jim Carrey.

Shaun White: “Dumb and Dumber”

Chris Troy: Anything by Quentin Tarantino.

Question 5: What’s your biggest fear?

Josh Stafford: Have you seen the movie “Inception?” I’ve been having dreams like that for probably the past five nights in a row, and I’ll just wake up in a cold sweat. It sucks.

Sandro Dias: To die

Anthony Shetler: Spiders

Shaun White: It’s usually various animals. It went from bears for a while, and then it was sharks, and I’m probably at alligators now. I always picture myself in the situation of, what would I do if they showed up?

Chris Troy: I would say either my parents or me dying. Any loved ones dying.
