Heavy Hitters Headed to Boston

The Dew Tour returns to Boston next week for the ISF Skateboarding World Championships June 25-26 and Ryan Sheckler, Paul Rodriguez, Bucky Lasek and Andy MacDonald are just a few of the names among 128 confirmed athletes.

Both Sheckler and Lasek are three-time Dew Cup winners and defending champs of the Boston event. Sheckler will be back with a vengeance after cutting his season short last year due to an injury, and Lasek is fresh off his win at the ProTec Pool Party.

The field includes skaters from more than 22 different countries, all competing in two days of skate park and vert competitions at Boston’s legendary TD Garden.

A couple local skaters at the event include Boston native Jereme Rogers, who’s making his return to skateboarding at the Dew Tour after his brief retirement and foray as a professional rapper. Another Boston local and newbie to the tour is Anthony Shetler, who’s looking to qualify for the skate park division. He could be up against fellow East Coaster Dave Bachinsky, who’s prequalified for park. Vert skater Andy MacDonald will be returning to his Beantown roots and looking for his second career win on the Dew Tour.

For other vert athletes, expect to see Pierre-Luc Gagnon linking big spin tricks, Bob Burnquist giving it all he’s got and then some and hopefully Alex Perelson nailing the second 900 of his competitive career.

On the park side, last year’s newcomer Ryan Decenzo will be looking to podium after making every final of his first Dew Tour season. He’ll be competing against ’08 Dew Cup champ Chaz Ortiz, Nick Dompierre, and Jake Duncombe, just to name a few.

Boston’s stop also includes women’s divisions for skate vert and park. Lacey Baker, Amy Caron and Vanessa Torres are just a few of the top girls competing in park and Lyn-z Adams, Mimi Knoop and Gaby Ponce are among the heavy hitters in vert.
