Dew Tour Returns To Boston For First Stop of 2010 Season

The Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long action sports tour, today announced its complete schedule for the 2010 season, which includes its return to Boston to kick off the five-stop circuit. The first stop on the 2010 calendar, Boston’s TD Garden will be the site of the Skate Open, ISF Skateboarding World Championships, June 25-26, and will feature the world’s greatest talent in skateboarding park and vert.

Returning to Boston for the second consecutive year, the Skate Open will also include the International Skateboarding Federation’s (ISF) Skateboarding World Championships – the second year in a row the events will be staged together on US soil. The event will take over TD Garden, June 25-26, featuring an 80-foot long vert ramp and an 8,800 square foot skate park course, featuring competitions in both men’s and women’s skate park and vert.

“After the great support the city of Boston showed the Dew Tour last year, it was an easy decision to return again this year,” said Chris Prybylo, Alli Vice President of Events and Dew Tour General Manager. “We know that Boston’s event will be the perfect start to the 2010 Dew Tour and the first of five highly competitive, highly entertaining stops.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to host the Dew Tour again this year,” said Thomas Menino, Mayor of Boston. “Our city is a hub of great sports and sporting moments, and the Dew Tour only strengthens that legacy.”

“We’re excited to be holding the ISF Skateboarding World Championships in conjunction with the Dew Tour for the second year,” said Gary Ream, President of the ISF. “Both events will showcase the best skateboarders in the world, and the contests are going to be even more intense with both the Dew Tour and the World Championship titles on the line.”

“Last year I was stoked to be the World Champion in skate park,” said three-time Dew Cup champion, Ryan Sheckler. “I’m looking forward to defending my title in Boston this year and to putting on a good show for the fans.”

The 2009 ISF Skateboarding World Championship titles were awarded to Ryan Sheckler (skate park, men), Vanessa Torres (skate park, women), Bucky Lasek (skate vert, men) and Lyn-z Adams Hawkins (skate vert, women).

Following the Skate Open, the Tour will continue on with a BMX-specific (park, dirt and vert) event in Chicago as well as multi-sport events in Portland, Ore., Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. Over the course of the five-stop schedule, athletes will compete to accumulate points based on their individual-event finishes, each vying for the most overall points and the title of Dew Cup champion.
