Lance Mountain has long been one of my favorite skaters because he’s always the one having the most fun at the session. This session was no exception. Lien Melon over the ladder in Lance’s backyard.
It’s fun to try and get my board parallel to the coping on this trick.
Jeff Phillips used to do a nice frontside stiffy. Just helping to keep the dream alive.
Chris Miller recently told me he thought I should do more backside tail grabs. This one is for you Chris.
The bowl at Clairemont was one of the first that Wally Holiday had built since his masterful creation of Cherry Hill, NJ in the 1970’s. I helped design this bowl in 2003 when it was built. It came out awesome thanks to Wally’s cement work and makes for fun Indy Airs over the hip.
It took me years to learn proper backside smith grinds. I used to say it was the hardest trick in skateboarding. Glad to have’em now cuz it’s one of the best feeling grinds I can do. Thank you Monty Nolder.
There’s a pool next to the ramp at Clairemont. It’s got a square bottom though like the pools back in Boston where I grew up.
Pier Park is one the best of the numerous parks in the Portland area. We skate it every year when we come through on the Dew Tour. Font Blunt on the hip.
I did this one over the smaller love seat at Clairemont but then they rebuilt it and added vert. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to step it up on four feet of vert. Spooky.
