Maddie Bowman started out racing, as many freeskiers do, but her time on the race slopes was short lived when she discovered her true passion for freestyle. With a breakout season in 2012 she claimed a first place win at Dew Tour in Killington, VT and a third place in Snow Basin, UT.
Bowman got her start on a small slope behind the Sierra-at-Tahoe lodge on her second birthday. The daughter of two skiers, her father raced in the professional racing circuit and her mother raced in the Far West division, it was no surprise she was a natural.
When she is not out in the snow you can find Bowman soaking up the sun and trying to spend as much time outdoors as possible.
Bowman wowed the world at the 2014 Winter Olympics, where she won gold in women's freeski halfpipe for Team USA.
